At Locktogether, we believe privacy is a fundamental right. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

Our Core Privacy Principle: Your screen time data stays on YOUR device. We never share individual usage statistics with other group members. When penalties occur, they are always anonymous.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information:

Email address (for account creation and login)
Display name (shown to group members)
Apple ID (if using Apple Sign-In)

Group Information:

Groups you create or join
Apps you choose to block within groups
Time limits you set

Information We Do NOT Collect:

Your actual screen time or app usage statistics
Which specific apps you use or for how long
Your location data
Your contacts or photos

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your account
Enable group functionality and app blocking
Send you important notifications about your groups
Process subscription payments (via Apple)
Improve our service and fix bugs

3. Anonymous Penalties

When a group member exceeds their screen time limit:

The entire group is notified with "Someone cracked"
We NEVER reveal which member triggered the penalty
No usage statistics are shared between members
Internal tracking is for functionality only, never displayed

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud) with:

End-to-end encryption for data in transit
Encryption at rest for stored data
Strict access controls and authentication
Regular security audits

5. Screen Time API

Locktogether uses Apple's Screen Time API to enable app blocking. This means:

Screen time data is processed locally on your device
We only receive signals about limit breaches, not actual usage data
Apple's privacy protections apply to all Screen Time data

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google): Authentication and database
RevenueCat: Subscription management
Apple App Store: Payment processing

Each service has its own privacy policy governing their data practices.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of your personal data
Correction: Update or correct your information
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
Portability: Export your data in a readable format

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

Your personal data is deleted within 30 days
You are removed from all groups
Groups you created are transferred or deleted

9. Children's Privacy

Locktogether is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
